manu 768 posts 98 months | Friday 25th April 2003 I walked into a pharmacist with toothache that would have killed a rhino and I said (I kid you not). "Give me the most power shit you can... I'm about ready to die" - the pharmacist gave me PARAMOL.

RobDickinson 10315 posts 89 months | Friday 25th April 2003 DO NOT take Ibuprofen on an empty stomach. Very bad idea. 600mg 3 times a day is the max. Its also an anti-imflamitary so will help in more than 1 way.

Sparks 1160 posts 114 months | Friday 25th April 2003 I may be remembering this wrong, but even most prescrption drugs are no stronger than pacacetamol/ibuprofen, it is just they work diferently and quicker (also psychological, that prescrption will be stronger). Unless you are talking morphine type stuff. Alot of this 'plus' stuff contains caffeine and somthing else, that can make them work differently Sparks (with a Medicinal and pharmaceutical chemistry educated wife)

kevinday 4726 posts 115 months | Friday 25th April 2003 I am going to be a bit different and suggest the sports pain relief creams you can buy. These contain Ibuprofen and you apply the cream to the ache directly, the painkiller is absorbed through the skin and 'hits the spot' straightaway.

ATG 11402 posts 107 months | Friday 25th April 2003 What's the source of the pain? If it's muscle damage then I'd prescribe a couple bottles of red wine. Once the muscles have relaxed the pain will ease ... and if it doesn't work, you won't be able to remember the pain in the morning anyway ... but you might have a hangover to contend with too. Seriously though, getting half pissed has eased muscle pain for me on several occaisions.

get the topical painkillers (cream) if you're gonna drink or you'll be asleep/sick very shortly after you start drinking..

Bombjack 394 posts 102 months | Friday 25th April 2003 Ibuprofen and Cocodemol (codeine+paracetemol) is the strongest pairing you can get over the counter afaik. Got prescribed that by an Army medical officer subbing at the local hospital when I crushed my heel. Was taking it every day snowboarding this year too. Ouch.
