Welcome. Who tuned the motor? You don't get numbers like that without some serious attention!

Looks like you might have had Patrick G find you a cam?

Howdy! I am without a doubt going to be at that event on September 24th at Shakespeare Raceway. The density altitude should be in or close to negative DA.

I would really like to be included when / if you guys do meets and stuff......

I'm on facebook as well - Mike Palumbo

MyM8V8:

Thanks! Kirk Dearhammer at Vector Motorsports did the ECM/TCM tuned. It is pretty good for the most part. The tune is unlocked, but was tuned with LS2 Edit. I wish it was tuned with HP Tuners.

I really need a good transmission tune. I should be running low 12's, not mid 12's..... *sigh*

On the cam, yep it is definitely speced from Patrick Guerra. I really like it

Hope to meet you guys sometime......

Hi Mike,

There's a choice of TCM tunes from Walkinshaw and I also think Wortec have one, also Ecuboss has mapped his own, some details here... www.hptuners.co.uk/real-sport-mode.html

My TCM tune was done by Chuck from Corvettes of Westchester using EFI Live, it's pretty aggressive but I like it like that!

Mid 12's is a good time based on previous drag days we're had, your Yank torque converter must help at the drag strip, I've been thinking about one myself for a while!

wavey welcome

Mike if you want a transmission tune speak to mym8v8, he has a very good tune done by himself, which is why he runs mid 11's

It's for a different box, the G8 has the 6L80E like the vxr8.

Funny... lol smile

Is Shakespeare typically faster than SantaPod? It looks like the elevation is lower at Shakespeare. Humidity is pretty good out here & we've been getting a lot of days with the barrometric pressure above 30 mmhg.....

I'm hoping to maybe be a little quicker....? (hope....)

I think I'm going to see if Walkinshaw can get me a good TCM / Transmission Tune. Glad you like Chuck COW, I've heard very good things from his tuning.

Although, my Yank 3200 torque converter is pretty fun, I think I would have gotten either 3.27 or 3.45 gears instead. The G8 GT auto's come with 2.92 gears......

I don't have the upgraded axles yet, so I don't push my burnouts too hard.... smile

If you remember or come accross who it is that is good with 6 speed autos, please let me know.
Thanks for your help......

P.S. - How come we can't have signatures in this forum? I'm suprised you guys don't use the http://www.vxronline.co.uk/vxrohome.php forum more instead..... It's all good....

I was (and still am) alway back and forth between the G8 Board & Charlie's GRRRR8.net board

As soon as the motor lands let us know. There's normally something going on somewhere, and plenty of RWYB's too. Actually you are running good numbers (for over here anyway) and it would be tough to get lower 12's without some sticky rubber on the back of that heavy old girl. Take no notice of Stig', he's on here just to wind people up. (He's an OK guy when you meet him though).
Hopefully meet you soon.

BTW no need to worry about it being tuned with LS edit. The pcm doesn't know what tuned it! As long as it's unlocked, Efilive (or HPT) can connect and read/flash the pcm. Most of us over here use Efilive, because of the availability of support on the ground.

I will absolutely let you all know when the car gets here. I might have mentioned, right now it's on the vessel called the ELEKTRA, and has an ETA to South Hampton on July 26th, I miss my car a bunch.....
I definitely would love to come out to a RWYB event. I've got the August 28-29 event at Silverstone Race Track circled on my calendar, I definitely want to go to that & participate with the car.

I figured the 'Stig' just wanted to get me going..... lol

Great to know about the tuning applications. If I can get a better tune, I'd be all for it.... The car drives pretty darn good for a daily driver, but it could be quicker at the drag strip......

Thanks again for all the info. & help MyM8V8

Mike have you checked on SVA stuff with you bringing it over? Shouldnt be an issue, if you pick up from Southampton you drive past a few members on here, perhaps sort out a mini welcome meet

Shakey is great, its cheap and I like that, surface isnt as hot as the pod but on road tyres grip can be better. Plus its a damn site closer to you

Where in Wales you based?

BTW, our 1/4s are uphill
