Much cheaper if you get a used one, now and again one of us wants the newest toy, heck I'm on my second and thinking about a new one!

What's the problem with your trans tune?
mystvxr:

Hmmmmm, I like the sound of that. I think my wife would kill me, if I told her I wanted a blower...... *sigh* argue

I'll probably just stay naturally aspirated..... I know.... boring! Oh well, the cam helps....

My trans tune.... is not very good. A lot of the other cam only G8's in the U.S. were going low 12's with all the same mods that I have. The best I can muster is a 12.5

I tried to get it tuned before I left by Jeremy Formato but he couldn't tune the car because it had been tuned with LS2 Edit. He uses HP tuners, and even though my tune is unlocked he couldn't tune the ECM or TCM.......

Oh well, that is my delema.....

The car runs great as a daily driver, it could just be quicker in the 1/4 mile with a better trans tunedriving

Did you compare your slips? were you matching their 60' times? I've done quite a few 1/4 mile runs and it seems much more art than science, fastest time I've seen in the UK in a vxr8 is a 12.5 and he has 500 rwhp 454 cid na, but not a lot of clutch hehe

Yep, I compared slips completly. What makes it even worse, is some of the times I would have a better 60' than another similarly modded cammed G8, and I would end up with the slower 1/4 mile time! (And they would have a slower 60' and a faster 1/4 mile time.....) Ouch, that hurts!

It's all good......

I can't wait to run the car out here. From everything that I'm seeing, the density altitude is a ton better out here vs. where I was racing in Michigan......

Out here the elevation is lower, humidity is lower, barometric pressure has been 30 mmhg or higher usually when I look. Any temps below 60 degrees Farenheit and it's close to negative DA... smile

I gotta go have a cigarette..... lol

The car can't get here soon enough.... smile

Hmm that might have been a 12.2 for ringrams car actually, cant really remember!

well it will be great to see yours run, I know how much you must be missing it! If you can handle a RHD car you're welcome to take mine for a spin sometime and check out Chuck's handwork.

welcome to the forum mike. We'll all be glad to help you spend your money on more mods over here. Your car sounds like its well set up. The strips here arn't as grippy on a rwyb day as you are used to so expect closer to 2.0 sec 60fts unless you spend a lot of time on that part of the run.
Has the g8 got a limiter fitted? Over here they are limited to 155 and its a bit onion like, with layers that nee to be disbled.
Thunder road is oct 24th and is a good day out, we all meet up the night before at a hotel and catch up, not all the cars on here are running blowers, your cr will generate plenty of interest so you gotta make a few of the meets.

Thanks for the welcome man..... I at least need to get some Pedders & BMR suspension / bushings installed. I'm definitely getting the rear cradle / crossmember inserts put on. I still can't believe I haven't done that yet. Also considering having the differential bushing put on. I've got the Radius Rod Bushing & caster washer to go on as well.

In my ECM/TCM tune my top speed limiter is removed. The car has been up to 161mph.... smile
It gets to 130 pretty quickly, 140mph takes just a bit longer, but after 145 is a slower climb. It all depends on how much safe room you have.

Edit - 'Thunder Road' is on my calendar for Sunday Oct. 24th, sounds like a good time.....

Definitely looking forward to bringing the G8 out to some stuff..... driving

You would be surprised! My best times have come from managing the throttle in 1st and 2nd to maximise grip, last time I was at santa pod I was manually shifting using the tap up tap down as my car was running out of puff before the auto was changing and my times were actually better, my new cam and bits should get me into mid 12's easily don't you think?

Cam and blower mate you should be low 12's or high 11's Id have thought.

Modulating throttle is only one thing to worry about. Shifting without missing a gear, working the clutch correctly, shifting fast, holding the right RPM between changes to modulate traction, watching RPM all the while etc. Much harder with a manual. Im surprised you auto owners dont fall asleep at the wheel out there with your AC and cruise control on.

You can win at the track, us manual guys will win at the dyno and at TR wink

Very funny ringramsmile

What is the TR? (Is it the track, as in 'circut track'?)

I'm going to totally be looking forward to Friday September 24th for the V8 hour of power driving

I think I'm going to try a couple runs (or maybe a majority of my runs) in manual mode, as I have a hard time staying straight (on street tyres) coming out of the hole (first 100 feet)......

Thanks Meat -n- Cheese!

It's probably due to the fact that I'm a regular on the G8 Board and Charlie's GRRRR8.net board in the United States.... (I'm was, and still am pretty active on those two boards...)

My screen name is Mike P on both those 2 sites...... driving
