| satsuma71 150 posts 3 months | Saturday 31st July  As above, when just moving off when cold, probably for about 10 mins, i can hear a faint knocking/tapping sound as i accelerate, totally dissapears when hot, it's a 6 ltr VXR RO,just done 39k miles, never rev it hard when cold etc, anything to look out for at these mileages, i DO change the fully synth oil regularly etc, suspect piston slap, should i worry, does it need a rebuild etc ?

| wormus 2920 posts 40 months | Saturday 31st July probably piston slap, nothing to worry about if it disappears when warm. Just keep an eye on the oil level (should be on or near Max) and let the engine warm fully before giving it the beans. | |

| S800VXR 3468 posts 37 months | Sunday 1st August Mechanically its all done with a nice MF MC2 in there now. Just waiting for WORTEC to finish mapping it next week.

Slight case of the well documented Gudgeon Pin Rattle at Around 60-70 Deg C..., a good many of our quickest LSX cars from Queensland down under are well acquainted with this LSX based Phenomenon Edited by satsuma71 on Saturday 31st July 16:23
