djwilk 143 posts 6 months | Saturday 31st July Hi folks, I have been accumulating more and more small niggles on my car as I drive it and it is coming to a point where stuff needs sorting out for good before the warranty runs out. Knowing what Vauxhall Service Depts are like ideally I would be taking some GM service manuals to prove them what's going on. Is there any source of that anywhere on the net so I could get myself prepared? And also is it really necessary to go to a VXR specialist dealer all the way down to Southampton knowing I have got a USELESS VXR specialist dealer in Heathrow pretty much 3 miles round the corner from mine? cheers Bart

I presume this is mostly a rhetorical question. I drove to Luton to avoid using those muppets nearby.

djwilk 143 posts 6 months | Saturday 31st July Motorbodies Luton vs Picador Southampton? I guess Heathrow is just a waste of space. ed me off big time last time the car went for a bearing... If I take it to one of those distant dealers what happens if the car has to be left there? Hitch hike? Or could I be hoping for a courtesy car? Also, the main concern that has to be dealt with is the clutch kit since it has been doing the usual. The direct remedy of torquing up some screws made no difference. It is actually coming to a point when when going full beans uphill it clutches on its own and revs like a bastard. I end up with revs but no power in crucial moments. I guess it has to be sorted out ASAP, also brake calipers/pads knocking (apparently shims needed - as read in some other thread), front suspension knocks, misaligned bonnet (although muppets at Heathrow once attempted to do sth), misaligned passenger's front door, can they do sth about the wheels? (they look like have been painted and paint peeling off - minor but I know there are tiny bits there), rear misting foglamps (Heathrow attempted to sort it out, but said that if they clear within 20 minutes that then it's no warranty thing, quick indicators (only in Winter - how do I prove it now?), intermitent dash central display not working, or A/C controls completely unavailable, and most of all something wrong with either a steering rack or steering column. When the car is switched off and your attempt to turn the steering wheel as it comes to a point where you're about to turn the wheel you can hear a single knock as if the wheel has just turned on the column. It does it again if you attempt to turn the wheel back the opposite direction, got that checked on the ramp and it might be the part linking the steering rack with the column. Dangerous in my eyes so it'd better get sorted, but can't trust Heathrow Vauxhall anymore... Help appreciated (especially regarding the service manuals of some sort) cheers Bart

Motorbodies will give you a courtesy car. It's also 5 minute walk from Luton airport. Catch the Heathrow express coach from there to Heathrow airport. Alternatively, it's also a 10 minute walk from Luton airport parkway so you can catch a train.

It's where I will most likely go for future warranty work if needed, which says a lot as I'll be coming from Liverpool. Unless of course anyone knows of a decent dealer in the North West, the closest to me (Warrington) said "we don't do warranty work on VXR8's, only Vauxhalls"
